The Backporch Storytellers is a non-profit organization, serving as a support group for adult storytellers. It is a resource group for people interested in oral literature. The purposes of the group are: to preserve and perpetuate the ancient art of storytelling, and to preserve the multi-cultural stories of the Old South, including the Sea Island and Gullah stories. Membership dues are $25 annually.

Clemson Area StoryTellers (CAST) Guild promotes and celebrates the art of Storytelling. The purpose of CAST is the preservation of oral narratives - stories passed down from generation to generation - for families and the community. We also celebrate the performance of stories for all ages, children to adults. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 pm, the ARTS Center, Clemson (go to for directions.)
