The Backporch Storytellers is a non-profit organization, serving as a support group for adult storytellers. It is a resource group for people interested in oral literature. The purposes of the group are: to preserve and perpetuate the ancient art of storytelling, and to preserve the multi-cultural stories of the Old South, including the Sea Island and Gullah stories. Membership dues are $25 annually.

Anderson Story Slam is a story telling organization based in Anderson, SC. Our story telling events are held one Monday a month at McGee’s Irish Pub in Anderson. Our “story slams” feature seven storytellers, each sharing a five minute true story. These true stories are drawn from the storyteller’s personal experiences and are told without notes.

Clemson Area StoryTellers (CAST) Guild promotes and celebrates the art of Storytelling. The purpose of CAST is the preservation of oral narratives - stories passed down from generation to generation - for families and the community. We also celebrate the performance of stories for all ages, children to adults. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 pm, the ARTS Center, Clemson (go to www.explorearts.org for directions.)

The Salkehatchie Tellers Guild is dedicated to preserving the oral narratives and methods past down by generations of families within the counties influenced by the Salkehatchie Rivers. We invite the public to attend our monthly meeting at 6:00pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Colleton County Memorial Library in Walterboro.
